Performance Court has been designed to provide a number of interior and exterior public spaces. Along Elgin Street, the Pocket Park will welcome visitors into the building and Winter Garden. The 7th floor roof top terrace offers panoramic views of Ottawa.
ELGIN POCKET PARK
Nestled in between both heritage buildings – the Grant House and First Baptist Church – the Elgin Pocket Park will serve as the primary public entrance into Performance Court, 150 Elgin.
The Elgin Pocket Park is adorned with lush landscaping, seating, a water fountain, a wooden trellis and architectural lighting meant to accentuate the rich textures of the surrounding heritage buildings.As is the case throughout the complex, native and drought resistant plant material to the Ottawa region is used to reduce landscape irrigation demands.
Hidden beneath the Elgin Pocket Park is the building’s cistern, which is used for the collection and storage of rainwater that falls on the building. This water is reused in select areas of the building to flush the toilets on the lower floors, and will allow the project to further reduce its need to draw upon fresh water. Reducing the consumption of potable water is an important component of Performance Court’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
7TH FLOOR PUBLIC ROOF TERRACE
Situated on top of the building’s podium on the 7th floor and overlooking Elgin Street is the Performance Court roof top terrace.
At over 6,000 SF, the roof top terrace is an exciting amenity for tenants of the building. It is publicly accessible from the Winter Garden and underground parking levels via two separate elevators open both during and after regular business hours.
The roof top terrace contains a mixture of both hard and soft landscaping, making it a welcome respite for activities ranging from quiet lunches to special tenant events. Similar to the Elgin Pocket Park, native and drought resident plant material is used to reduce the need for irrigation.
The roof top terrace also provides breathtaking views of the Ottawa area, including views of Confederation Park, the Rideau Canal, City Hall, the National Arts Centre, the Fairmont Chateau Laurier, and more.
